Moving Day!

We are moving tomorrow into the house! We are very excited as I felt amazingly better today just walking through the house and moving what little we've had for the last 5 weeks in. This is just a picture of the kitchen I took a while back but it is just going to be perfect for us for the next year.

We are having our last night in this LAME apartment and I am so glad about that. I think it would only depress me further to be staying here any longer. We are very excited to get all of our stuff back tomorrow (most things we haven't seen in over 2 years) and begin feeling at home.

I don't think we'll have Internet for a few days but as soon as I get back on, I'll post more pictures of Moving Day! :)

Our funny FHE

So, tonight we had our Family Home Evening and I chose to do a lesson on the Godhead. We explained to Drew that there were 3 members of the Godhead: Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. This is when Drew says, "Like Scooby Doo!" I soon realized when I said, "ghost," he attributed that to Scooby Doo cartoons where the ghosts are scary and he proceeded to make "rrrroar!" sounds and put his hands up in a scary manner. Not exactly the image I had in mind but David and I both were laughing inside. So, we still went on with the lesson and Drew could recite who was in the Godhead by the end of our lesson but I think the Holy Ghost is his favorite... :)

Drew and his companion

Here are some pictures of Drew and Beva. In the top one, he is choosing to feed her by spreading her food everywhere on the floor, which she loves to be fed by people rather than eat out of the bowl any day. The bottom picture is Beva licking Drew's feet which is totally gross but something she likes to do. They are quite the pair, these two. Luckily, he has someone or something to play with because he gets so bored all by himself. Drew loves her even though he still has a hard time with the "v" sound and calls her "Beba."

The other day he was chasing her too much and she let out a yelp. Drew got a time out for what I felt was obviously playing too rough with her but then Beva went to his door where he was crying in timeout and she wanted in! She wanted to rescue him from punishment and was very worried about Drew because he was so upset. That's what I get from trying to protect her! I guess she can hold her own then. Beva turns 5 years old in a few weeks... happy bday Beva! :)

Favorite Song

I tried to get Drew to sing another song on video. So, I engaged him in a conversation about it and he started singing. His favorite song is "kind and dear" as he likes to call it but it is really titled, "I am a child of God." We like to sing to him as he lays down to go to sleep and at this age, he is singing everything along with me. It is so precious and one of my favorite moments of the day. On another note, he is successfully potty-trained now.
Enjoy the video! :)

Sneaky...

I thought I'd share how Drew got a little sneaky this weekend. This is our bowl of Hershey Kisses from which he gets one after he goes potty. David and I were somewhere in the apartment (not where Drew was) and we found him chowing down on these all by himself on the couch. You see all the empty wrappers in the bowl? We were shocked and Drew just started giggling and laughing. He totally knew it was not cool but he made a pretty smart move while we were not around. You know his Lightening McQueen stool we got him to help him up to the toilet? Well, let's just say he is learning to use it around the house in various ways including getting to the candy. Smart, sneaky little one... now, they are placed in the top of our closet! :)

Flat Creek

Friday evening we went to Flat Creek which was something I looked up on a website of things not to miss here in PTC. It actually is located by an outdoor amphitheater called "the Fred" which I can't wait to go to (hint, hint, David) for various performances. Drew had a great time on our little hike through the woods. He and David kept running and then waiting for me to catch up. Drew is very much like his dad and loves to run, especially with David.

Here is father and son looking adorable together.

Picture of the running...

and finally, another picture of Drew and David together having a good time. No pictures of me - I wasn't looking "suitable" plus David and I were wearing almost the exact same outfit which we laughed later about. That's what happens when you only have about 2 weeks of clothing to last about 5 weeks in temporary housing... 9 days left and majorly counting until we move into the house and get all our stuff back! :)

Ok, I'm a HUGE nerd

So, in my 3 weeks at my new job, I've been tasked with some very repetitive data entry pieces into Microsoft Excel. I'm writing this page with the hope that somebody else will run into my problem and this will point them in the right direction. I created a Macro, which repeats a specific task by a shortcut on the keyboard, but I wanted it to repeat a certain number of times. I spent hours on the internet trying to figure out how to make it happen and I finally found a website that did it for me.

You can see it here. Its pretty good in general and intro visual basic programming.
http://www.anthony-vba.kefra.com/vba/excelvba-simulation.htm#For_..._Next_

Basically after you record your macro, you put this line of code at the top.
For i = 1 to 3 (the number 3 can be replaced by the number of times you want to repeat the macro in a row.)

Then on the line above the End Sub line, you insert Next i. I'm not sure how it all works and what it all means, but this basically says repeat the macro code 3 times.

Anyway, I've been struggling with this for my 3 weeks here in Georgia, and the light bulb finally went off in my head today!

Blueberry/Peach Cobbler

So, we finally made the cobbler from the blueberries we picked and the Georgia White peaches we got at the farm last weekend. It was YUMMY! David makes such a good cobbler and we topped it off with vanilla ice cream... mmmm... delicious. The white peaches are a little sweeter than regular ones so the blueberries were a great combination with them!

Wedding research

So, what have I been doing for two days straight? Researching wedding reception places for my sister and Lars! It has been so much fun. I am excited about helping out with the plans and going home for a visit and going dress shopping and such. Definite girl time!
Here is the picture of Keely and Lars the night they got engaged... I think the family is going to have a dinner this week to celebrate the engagement. Too bad we can't be there but I am glad they are doing it. :)

SO THE BIG QUESTION IS (for all you Houstonians): WHERE HAVE YOU ATTENDED A WEDDING AND JUST LOVED THE PLACE THAT YOU REMEMBER IT? ANY SUGGESTIONS OF PLACES WE SHOULD WE LOOKING? Thanks! :)

Marriage... Anyone?

I've been tagged by Melanie and I think these are fun so here it goes:

How long have we been married? 7.5 years

How old? I just turned 32 and David is still 30 - he loves the 4 months where he is two years younger than me!

Who eats more? uh... probably eat the same really but he is eating more ice cream than me lately! He is addicted to these cookies 'n cream Klondike bars I got recently! :)

Who said "I love you" first? David did for sure.

Who is taller? David but not by too much!

Who sings better? David - he likes to sing in the choir and such. I am just NOT a singer. But I have surprised myself - I do sing to Drew whenever he wants. He doesn't know how bad I am just yet.

Who is smarter? David is smarter. He doesn't have to study near as hard as I do for things. I work really hard and that has furthered me in my education and in life.

Who controls the T.V.? We both do. We like to watch shows together so if there is something the other doesn't want to watch, we'll tivo it and watch it another time.

Who's temper is worse? I would say mine I think.

Who does the laundry? I do.

Who does the dishes? Whoever doesn't cook!

Who sleeps on the right? I do. I picked that side when we got married because it was always the side I slept on with my sister. I tried sleeping on the other side once and couldn't sleep real well.

Who cooks? Me mostly.

Who is more stubborn? I think we both are. I would like to say David is more stubborn than I am but that is just my perspective.

Who admits they are wrong first? Me for sure. I want to make up quickly and I hate when David is mad at me.

Whose parents do you see more? Well, the last two years we have lived with David's mom but on the whole, we see my family more often. My family is just always getting together plus more of them live closer together.

Who has more siblings? David has 4 siblings; I have 2.

Who has more friends? Used to be me but lately with business school where David made some really good friends, I think we are about equal now.

Who wears the pants? Let's face it, ME!

Thunderstorms in Georgia

While we were in Houston, my mom, Mimi, taught Drew a song to sing when its raining. The clouds looked ominous while we were on our way to church, and turned into a downpour while we were inside (fortunately!)

While leaving church, Drew began singing the song, "Its Raining, Its Pouring, The Old Man is Snoring" over and over. Needless to say its been raining for about 6 hours now, and except for the 3 hours Drew was napping, we've been singing the same song over and over. Pretty cute, but starting to be repetitive!!!

Engaged!

My sister, Keely, and her boyfriend, Lars, (now fiance) are ENGAGED!!! They went to Fredricksburg for the weekend where Lars proposed. I got the phone call late last night, and I could tell Keely was still in shock (Lars prefectly pulled off the surprise) and they both sounded so happy. They have been together 3 years now and plan to get married October of 2009 when Lars' family can make it over here from Germany for the wedding. This is so very exciting - we can't wait for Lars to become officially a part of our family and for the wedding preparations to begin!

Picking Blueberries

We picked blueberries today at a farm in Fayetteville, Georgia nearby us. It was a lot of fun but it did get hot! The trees were low enough so Drew could pick the blueberries as well. We were lucky because the blueberries were sparse as the season is almost over. But we got enough to make a blueberry cobbler and David makes the best! YUMMY!

The pictures say it all!

These pictures I wanted to post all on their own because they are very special. They are from the last moments of Drew's birthday party where David and I gave him a 'Big brother' t-shirt to tell my family that we were expecting. The first picture is me cracking up when I see the looks on all their faces.
The second picture is of my sister videotaping and tearing up at the same time and my mom starting to cry. They were shocked and it was so much fun to surprise them. Thanks again to Julie Hunt, my good friend that took these priceless shots for me! :)

Our new home!

http://www.preferredhomerentals.com/280_Turnbridge.html

Click here to catch some shots of our new home as of July 30! We had already decided not to buy a house here because we may only be here as little as 12 months. So, we decided to try and find a house to rent and we did it. We did some serious searching, looking in house after house after house and chose this one. The rental market here is not good. If they are worth anything, they go quickly and we were fortunate enough that some people who wanted to get in on this house and who beat us to the punch had not-so-good credit. David and I knew we could fly high over that hurdle and when the guy saw our credit score, he said, "the house is yours!" So, we are thrilled. I love it. I loved it when I walked in. It was also a neighborhood we kept driving through loving the houses and such. It is very central to Peachtree City and I really like the location. Still only 10 minutes from David's work and like 2 minutes from Drew's preschool and 5 minutes from church. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a fenced in backyard for Beva. We are so grateful for this. We are in our first real home. :)

New gigs in the bathroom

So, we bought a lightning mcqueen toilet seat and step stool so Drew can learn to be more independent on the potty. He picked out the stool first and I chose the matching potty seat. I have had a little potty (one that goes on the floor) for a year now and he has never sat on it, so we went for the next step up. Anyway, Drew's doing great with his potty training! :)

Drew's 3rd Birthday!

I never did get around to posting about Drew's 3rd birthday party so here it finally is! We had a party at the local YMCA. It was a Mickey Mouse theme and we had all of Drew's cousins there (all the ones who live in Texas) which was such a treat and some friends too. We also surprised everyone at the end of the party by giving Drew a present which was a "big brother" t-shirt and that is the way we told my side of the family we were having another baby. What a memorable day and we are so fortunate to have Drew as our son. He is such a joy in our lives.

Peachtree City Parade

So, now that we live in a "small town" there was a parade for July 4th! It was quite exciting because we had no idea where it was exactly, we kind of just guessed and followed the people and got a great spot to see everything! Here David and Drew are waiting for the parade to start!

A great picture of Drew on top of David's shoulders waving to the fire men and women. Notice he is holding a chick-fil-a fan in his hand which he loved. They came by with a float and the chick-fil-a cow dressed up and handing out fans. Chick-fil-a actually started in Georgia so there are so many wherever you go! The weather was actually very nice and you didn't really even need the fans until we made the long walk back to the car.

Me and Drew in front of the Chinese dragons - the only multicultural float I think we saw all day. There were a lot of political people in floats, local businesses doing advertising as well as churches on their own floats as well. A lot of them played music, threw candy and other advertising items. The best was the very beginning of the parade where they had the war veterans of each war in a different golf cart and everyone was clapping and screaming for them. I actually got very emotional seeing these men and women and when I looked over, David had teared up as well. What a great honor to have men and women in our family (all four of our grandfathers and one of david's grandmothers) who have served this great country and people we know as well serving right now! What a wonderful country we live in and what a great blessing it is to enjoy our freedom!!!

Drew's favorite part of the parade was all the candy that was thrown his way. He loved chewing the gum, eating the tootsie rolls, popsicles and kept asking for more! We had a wonderful time!!! Next year, we hope to go in our own golf cart like everyone else!

Our FIRST Visitors!

So, I got a call on Thursday night from my mom. She started talking to Drew saying, "You want me to come visit you?" Of course, I started to get nervous thinking he will really start to buy into that and don't get his hopes up kind-of-thing and when I got back on the phone, she said she and Sam were coming to visit us for the holiday weekend. I couldn't have been more excited and grateful.
Sure enough, she and Sam hopped on a plane early Friday morning and were here by Friday lunchtime. It was tremendous. I loved every minute of their visit with us. It made me feel I wasn't so far from home. It also made me feel very special that my mom loves us that much she couldn't wait to come and see us. Later she did say anytime I've moved, she's always been there to help me, find me a place to live, etc. and she couldn't help not knowing where exactly we were and she hated not being able to picture where I was living. I love my mom!

Friday, we went to lunch at Ted's where we ate bison burgers and then we showed my mom and Sam around Peachtree City. They took us to Carrabba's that night for dinner and here is a picture of Drew getting fed yummy spaghetti by Popo. Then, we went that night to watch the fireworks from the back of our trailblazer.

The fireworks were great - they do them over Peachtree City Lake. Tons and tons of people were out to watch them. David picked a good spot for us to see them and Drew had fun calling out the colors he saw in the sky.

Saturday, we went to the Coca-Cola Factory in Atlanta. (More pictures to come on that). But here Drew is with MawMille and Popo with tickets in hand. There was such a line, it was unreal so it was a very popular thing to do. Before we got to the Coca-Cola Factory, my mom and Sam took Drew to the toy store and bought him Harold, the helicopter, which is part of Thomas the Tank Engine figures and Drew continuously played with it all weekend flying Harold all around. What a special treat to have our family here!

Service anybody?

Okay, so Monday night we had Family Home Evening and I did a lesson on service because we made cookies to bring to some neighbors David met in our apartment complex. He said they were really nice and we should go introduce ourselves more. Drew and David met them briefly when they went on a walk to the mailbox. So, we made the cookies and we all walked downstairs, knocked on their door and well, they weren't home. Bummer! David couldn't remember their names exactly so we were going to write a note but just decided we'd try again later and now it is days later and the cookies are all eaten. Oh well, it is the thought that counts, right? :)

$1 Movies

Okay, so I looked up the nearest dollar movie theater and it is in the town east of here called Fayetteville (about 9 miles away). They have the summer movie deal where you take kids every Wednesday morning to see a show appropriate for them so we decided to try it out today. Drew and I saw, "Clifford the Big Red Dog," and he watched the whole thing from beginning to end. Notice Edward came with us too! They had these great booster seats so kids could sit higher and see the movie better. I think this will be our routine each Wednesday morning - he loved it! :)

Potty Time!

Hooray! Drew went "pee pee on the potty!" Yeah, so this is a big deal for us considering he is already 3, has not been the least bit interested in the potty, and just plain and simple, has not been remotely ready. So, I always had it in my plan to start this process when we moved because I would be home full-time to really spend the time doing it plus people tell you with big changes, kids can regress so there was no point to do it beforehand. Now, don't get me wrong, we have put him on the potty, but he just stares at himself saying, "My penis not working," and hops off. Hysterical...
Well, yesterday we had him in his Thomas underwear and he was actually sitting in time out (we've also had a lot of those lately) and he comes running out saying, "I need to go potty!" So, I took him immediately and low and behold, he went! It was marvelous and he went 3 times total last night. It was quite the accomplishment.
Immediately upon "peeing in the potty" he said he was ready to get Edward. You see him holding Edward here. Edward was a train he had but he lost (we think on one of our lovely trips to HEB) and we told him when he went potty for the first time, he could get a new Edward. So, David looked up a toy store and we all went last night to get him. Drew slept with Edward last night and took him with us today to the movies. Anyway, we have a happy boy and happy parents and we are officially on the road to potty training.
