Twinkle, Twinkle, Little MEOW!

So the other day we were watching America's Funniest Home Videos, which is one of Drew's favorite shows, and a video came on with a man singing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. At the end of each sentence, the video would show their cat, and the cat would meow. Drew thought it was the funniest thing in the world, so he started singing this new version of the song...

Now we sing it several times a day, and everynight before he goes to bed.

Friend update

So, everyone knows my greatest challenge in moving to a new area is finding friends. I am the kind of person that will get down if I don't. Usually, I find my friends at work or when we were in Utah, it was school and also, our neighbors, but here it is going to be more difficult. Not working gives me no support system there and being in a temporary apartment, you can forget about meeting people really. So, I went to church on Sunday with a definite goal... get involved as soon as possible and make some friends. Actually, the Peachtree City ward should be commended - SEVERAL people came up to us and introduced themselves - they were all so very friendly. I made it a goal after church to go up to the RS president and ask about the playgroup. Instead, she came up to me! So, I did get some information about the playgroup here but apparently, they have difficulty getting a lot of people to attend. WOW, that sounds all too familiar. But I told them, I didn't care if only one person showed up, I'd be glad. So, I got an email this morning that the playgroup goes to the park twice a week and even to this 'jump for it' place. Bottom line... Drew and I have actual plans tomorrow - who hoo!!!! Things are looking up... :)

Birthday Present!!!

So, my birthday present from David and Drew has arrived! I got a new Blackberry Curve Titanium. David got one too. We haven't gotten new phones in almost three years so it was about time. I have to admit, David got the phones for free (with a new contract and rebate, you know the drill) but he got the activation fees waived, the data package fees waived for the first six months, and we kept our same Houston numbers. So, I'm excited! I can't wait to use it. THANKS to David because he did all the work getting these and got such a great deal too!

Day at the Park

While David went off to work for his first day, Drew and I found a "first" to do here in Peachtree City. We found a park/playground. Actually, when I looked it up on the map, it happened to be right across the street from his preschool so I am sure we'll be back often. But it was a nice playground set against Peachtree City Lake.

Here Drew is sitting on the spaceship only reminding us of Houston ironically enough.

Here is his smile when I come down the slide after him. He loves when I play with him on the structures. And I am so relieved because 3 happens to be the magical age where he is starting to smile in pictures!!!

I've never seen this kind of swing before. Apparently, it has a seat belt and everything.

This last picture is the view of the Lake behind us. It was pretty but HOT too!

First Day of Work!

David's first official day of work at Cooper Lighting. Drew gave David a big send off with hugs, kisses and well wishes. It didn't take long for him to ask for his Dad during the day but the best part was that David came home for lunch! Because we live so close to his office, David will be able to come home each day for lunch with us. What a treat! We are so fortunate.

My bug finder

Drew got such a cool present as a party favor (even though he couldn't attend the actual party) from Brian Ellis. It is a bug box. It literally came with a net to catch the bugs, tweezers to pick it up, and a box with a magnifying glass to look into. Drew loves it! When we were at my mom's last week, we went out to search for things to find. Of course, I took him when I knew no bugs were out to find (that someone else can do) so we picked up flowers and leaves instead. But it was a lot of fun and he was so precious. Thank you, Ellis family, for such a great gift! :)

Home

So, when we woke up this morning, Drew said, "I want to go home." Yeah, we tried to play it off and we told him that we are home even though we knew what he meant. Then, tonight as we were coming back from dinner, he said it again. Drew said, "I want to go home." David answered, "We are going home." Drew says, "No, I want to go HOME." David says, "We are going to our new house." Drew says, "I don't like our new house. I want to go home." David then asks, "Do you mean you want to go to Mimi's house?" (which is what he calls David's mom and where we have lived the last two years). Drew says, "uh huh." So, we get it; he wants to go home. And honestly, we do too in a lot of ways. But we have to keep thinking we are here for a reason, and not just to earn money but something is here for us. If anything, this job is allowing me to stay home full time and be with Drew so even though he is losing out on all of his extended family in Houston and all of our friends we are missing so much, he is getting me. Sometimes, I wonder if I'm enough. I hope I am. I am missing home too very much.

Update

We have arrived in Georgia! We drove to Lafayette on Sunday afternoon, got there in four hours on Sunday evening. We ended up staying in a pretty sketchy hotel that night - David looked up "pet friendly" hotels and we chose the Quality Inn. Not great, not great at all. It was pretty bad but as long as there weren't any bugs, I was okay. Then, we got up Monday morning and drove 6 hours total to Montgomery, Alabama. We had a nice dinner and rested that night quite a bit. Then, yesterday we explored Montgomery in the morning and then drove the remaining two hours to Peachtree City, Georgia. We got into our temporary housing - 3 bedroom apartment and moved all of our stuff in.
We also had our second car delivered to us today - yeah! And met our first new neighbor, Buck. No, I am not kidding, that is really his name. I had a good experience yesterday evening going to Walmart - it was really nice and I actually got a good parking spot. I think a lot of people here don't shop at Walmart thinking it is beneath them because this is a very wealthy area and they fought the whole Walmart thing I hear. But it made me feel somewhat less homesick to walk into Walmart and see such familiarity! Plus, the woman checking me out at the register was very friendly. That is the thing, people are just as friendly here as they are back home, it is quite nice.
Well, you would have thought I only had to make one Walmart trip but I made two within minutes and we still have more things to get. Good thing it isn't far away.
Today, we drove to David's work, 12 minutes total, and visited a golf cart shop. We want to get one but we have to do more research around it all. Anyway, we are going out for sushi tonight - David and Drew are taking me out for my birthday which was on Monday, I am getting a new cell phone from them (hopefully, a blackberry) and David starts work tomorrow!

Moving Day...

On Monday, the movers came! They packed up all our stuff and it is probably in Georgia by now. It will be stored until the end of July. Until then, we will move into temporary housing. We will leave Sunday for Lafayette, Louisiana; Monday we will drive to Mobile, Alabama, and then Tuesday, we will arive in Peachtree City, Georgia. Right now we are with my family in Lake Jackson relaxing, resting and getting some last moments with everyone before we set off.

By the way, if you have ever wondered why your family has so much "drama," no worries, ours does too! We had some major "Jerry Springer" drama early Monday morning with David's grandmother (and his dad's wife) that will go down in the history books. Even the poor innocent movers witnessed it all! It's probably not appropriate to blog about but I have to say, if you somehow thought these things don't happen to everyone, it does happen to the Pistorius family.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day! I want to wish my dad and my husband a very happy father's day... also, my grandfather and my stepfather too! What a wonderful day to celebrate and honor fathers. We woke David up this morning with a card Drew made at an art class we went to a few weeks ago taught by my good friend, Laura Ellis. Drew almost didn't do his footprint because he hates being wet or that dirty feeling. But I coerced him with candy and he did it! He proceeded to tell David how "gross" it was and that he had to clean his foot after it was done. But what a treasure to have - both the footprint and our precious son, Drew. It is also his third birthday today (more bday party pics to come)! Drew asked for new sunglasses for his birthday so he is wearing them here with his pajamas on while in bed with Dad. David bought himself a new golf club a few months ago as his father's day gift, and Drew and I got him two new books by his favorite author as well. Happy Father's Day, David. We love you and Drew could not have a better dad. :)

PREGNANT!

Yes! We are expecting a baby and are thrilled about it. I should be due sometime in mid-February. So, we literally just found out a week or so ago but had to tell our family before I posted it on our blog.

The story is kind of funny... we took the test on a Friday night. I didn't see anything come up at first so I thought we weren't pregnant, and I ended up throwing the test away (I guess I just didn't wait long enough or didn't see it). I went downstairs to tell David we weren't pregnant, and we watched the "Bee movie" with Drew for the night. Once it was over, David went to return the movie, I put Drew to bed, and I decided to check the test one more time. When I did, there was a faint pink line I hadn't seen before! (We have experience in faint pink lines and the fact that David had to teach me that meant pregnant even though it was hardly there.) So, we took these pictures that night so excited and thrilled. Then, on Saturday, we told David's sisters at Sea World, and Wendy mentioned that you can get a false positive if you wait too long to read the test! So, we waited until Monday morning to take a re-test and there was no question, it was very positive!

Here is Colleen, my mother-in-law, that night after she got home from working in the temple when we told her she was going to expect grandchild #15! The baby is actually due around her birthday since she is a Valentine's baby!

Family Photos

So, we took our family photos this week. I like to take them around Drew's birthday each year and this year we decided to take them at Rice University commemorating David's graduation. We had some good friends take them and here are some of the ones I liked. Drew is not looking or smiling at cameras right now so it was the best we could get from him! :)

Sea World

We went to Sea World this past Saturday with David's almost entire family. Amy, David's oldest sister, and her family who live in Utah weren't there but literally everyone else was. It was so much fun. The kids had a great time together, no one had a meltdown and we got to see everything. Here is David and Drew at the opening of the park.Drew showing me he is turning three in a week! He was watching the water skiing show here.

David and Drew with Mimi too. Mimi paid for everyone's ticket for such a fun family event before we move to Georgia. THANKS COLLEEN!
Me and Drew - it was already getting hot!

Some of our pics from our weekend in Georgia!

The view driving in Peachtree City - all trees! You can't even see where people live. Can be quite confusing if you are looking for houses to buy.

Peachtree City has over 90 miles of golf cart paths and everyone drives a golf cart around to go shopping and eat out. This is a bridge for the golf carts.
A view of the golf carts parked at the shopping area we were at. People had their dogs riding with them and kids in car seats on them!
David in the ride we had all weekend. We met David's boss and co-workers at Cooper and went to lunch with them.
The Cooper building David will be working at. We will live only 5 miles away!

Last day....

So, yesterday was my last day at my office. I was originally scheduled for 10 hours of therapy straight but of course, I had a cancellation and one no-show, went over with someone else, did phone therapy for one person who forgot the appointment as well... but my last day at my private practice has come and gone and now I am finished! I felt sad to let go of some people and at the same time, I feel good to have some time off for a while.
What is my plan? Not sure exactly... my plan is to get pregnant but that may not be someone else's plan (just started trying last month) so the backup plan is to maybe open a practice in Georgia and work when Drew is in pre-school. But the greatest part of it all?... I don't have to work. We are finally at the point in our lives where we have been striving to get for all these years. It is definitely going to be worth it. Anyway, for now I am officially unemployed! and so is David until later this month... :)
