Church Basketball Injury

David was playing church basketball last Thursday night (as he does every week) and called me to tell me he was on his way to the ER. A head wound that bled like crazy he tells me. He got all glued up and came home and took Friday off resting from this injury. Make note that this is not his first injury from his Thursday night basketball games at the church but definitely the worst. He will be on the injured players list for at least two weeks.

P90X

David ordered P90X - we both have been wanting to do this workout routine. I've got to get in shape after this baby. I was back down to my weight when I got pregnant with Dilan early on but things still don't fit right. You ladies know what I mean - just things are still jiggling and the things that do fit just look bad. So, it came in the mail today and I did my first workout. Of course little did I know, I started with plyometrics which the guy on the screen said is the hardest workout of them all. GREAT! But I got through it and it was tough and I remember why I don't like working out so much but I am doing this. I am walking down the aisle in my sister's wedding in 6 months and this is a done deal - I have to look decent. And no, the excuse of having a baby 8 months ago in October is just not going to cut it. So, you do this for 90 days... day 1 completed.

Houston Easter

Drew, Dilan and I went to Houston for a week over Easter. We had a great time getting to see family and friends. I took my nice camera David got me and took over 200 pictures. Here are just some of them! :)

Best Friends and Dilan

So, I got to see a few of my closest friends while I was home in Houston for Easter. Both of these girls were college roommates, bridesmaids in my wedding, we've had kids at the same time, you get the picture! It's amazing to me that I met Jennifer when I was 18 years old and a freshman at UT. Mandy and I met when we were potluck roommates our sophomore year at UT and only 19 years old. I am still very close to both of them today. Jennifer lives in Houston still and Mandy lives in California. I met Jennifer and her family at a Chili's near my mom's house for dinner and Mandy drove over an hour and a half from her parent's house to see us when she was actually on a trip home to Houston at the same time I was. I was able to introduce them to Dilan and have her meet two of the most significant girlfriends in my life. Here are some pictures! :)

Georgia Easter

We did part of Drew's Easter basket the Monday before we left for Houston so David could be a part of it all. Drew had been asking for a camera for a while so the Easter Bunny brought him one along with new pajamas, a Thomas ball, and some chocolate. He found the basket on our front step and took pictures the rest of the night!

Potty Miracle!

After starting Drew's potty training last July where he got the #1 part of it down pat (within a few weeks) and absolutely refused to go #2 on the potty, he is finally doing it now! We literally tried everything and when I talked to the pediatrician last week, he clearly labeled Drew as a resistant child to potty training. So, with that, he gave me a sheet of paper giving us yet another list of techniques. I'm not sure what exactly worked or if it was the combination of things but Drew has pooped on the potty 5 times now in just three days. He was so excited tonight that he did it that he said he wanted to do it again real soon. He also said his pee and poop could go play together with their friends in the ocean as they got flushed away. No worries he has gotten a pair of Lightning McQueen socks or Mickey Mouse socks each time he went ($1 at Target) and a special trip for ice cream with David at Dairy Queen. And when he goes a total of 10 times (which we will consider fully potty trained), he gets Donald and Douglas (picture inserted). We are thrilled of our little boy's success and are excited for him that he has crossed this milestone.

Bad day

You know when you just really have a bad day? Well, we had one today big time. But I am choosing not to reflect on that as much as I am on this precious little girl I posted a picture of... because in the light of this bad day, nothing felt as good as rocking this little one to sleep in my arms and just holding on to her tight. Most of the time as a mom, you are giving and giving and it's amazing that when you need comfort and reassurance in your life, just a hug or a kiss or the opportunity to hold your child in your arms makes everything feel better. How grateful I am for that.

2 months

Dilan is 2 months old now. She weighs 10 lbs, 8 oz. and is 24" long. She is in the 36th%tile in weight and 94th%tile in length! I couldn't believe how long she has gotten! She is thriving well and smiling for us. She even likes her swing too! She is cooing and we are getting to know her habits more and more - we just adore this little girl!!! We love you, Dilan.

Back home

Yes, we are back home now from our week trip to Houston. Drew, Dilan and I traveled to Houston to see family and spend Easter there. You can imagine me with two kids, two car seats, one majorly huge suitcase, a double stroller, a large camera bag, diaper bag and Thomas backpack filled with a heavy DVD player and movies... Yeah, I carried all of that myself. Anyway, we got back late Tuesday evening and it's taking me a bit of time to get back in the swing of things. Thanks to David though because when I got home, the whole house was clean! :)

Easter Party

Drew had his Easter party at school on Friday. We used our new camera and we are really enjoying the great pictures it takes! It may be big and bulky, and we bought a huge camera bag just to carry it but it's fantastic. You just have to be committed to taking pictures to lug it around and since I am, it all works out well!
David, Dilan and I were all able to go to Drew's party where they had an Easter egg hunt, read an Easter story and had snacks. It was fun to see Drew with all of his friends and I have really gotten to know the moms now that we have had about 4 birthday parties the last 2 weeks!
Drew thought it was very cool to open the eggs up and find cars, stickers and chocolate. He was so disappointed once he started opening them at home and there was nothing in them anymore.

End of an Era

Tonight is the series finale of ER. It has been on tv for 15 years and yes, I have been a faithful viewer for all that time. I can clearly remember it premiering the fall I started college at UT so I've watched it since I was 18 years old. I've been through it's peak and even through some not-so-good seasons, following its characters diligently and experiencing memorable moments of tears (think Dr. Green's death). I am sad to say goodbye to this series tonight because it is the end of an era for me and truly makes me reflect on the past 15 years of my own life. I feel like I should be having people over for an ER party (similar to the one I had in college for the end of Seinfeld) but I am not sure of anyone who still watches it except David and I (and my sister of course). But with all the ER fans that will be watching tonight, I will be grabbing the tissues along with you sending this show off to retire in tv land and being grateful for the past 15 years I've shared my Thursday nights with County General! :)
