Cowboy Stadium

Drew's flag football team had the opportunity to go to Cowboy Stadium and play a game! We all went to support Drew and David (as coach) and enjoyed a tour afterwards as well. It was definitely a treat to be in a professional stadium and on the field playing football. Ever since we moved to Dallas, I've been wanting to see this new stadium so this was our chance.

Then Drake joined in and sat in the end zone too

After the game, the team received their trophies - Drew's favorite part of the season
On our way to tour the rest of the stadium, David and the kids stopped to take a picture on the center star
Cheerleader locker room - yes, they have life-size pictures of themselves above their dressing rooms
Each tunnel had one these pretty cool stars

Baby #4!

We are excited to announce the arrival of Pistorius baby #4 sometime at the end of November, beginning of December! We have been talking and talking about this last little one and when to have the baby of our family. We wanted to wait until David's job was permanent at SWA and we wanted Drake to be between 2 and 3 years old. With my age increasing past 35 this summer, we knew we had a window of time so we decided to start trying. Sure enough our first attempt was successful and we are looking forward to meeting our little one after Thanksgiving and before Christmas.
I was kind of surprised I was pregnant already but David was so excited - kind of a role reversal for us. :) But in looking back over my pregnancies, I realized we found out I was pregnant with Drew on David's birthday, we found out I was pregnant with Dilan at David's mom's house and were able to share it with her (also initially I thought the test was negative and went back later to dig it out of the trash and find the other pink line had come up), and
found out I was pregnant with Drake with my sister Keely and then I surprised David with the positive test as we went away to Chicago for the weekend. I knew this one had to have it's own special story too. So, because Drew is almost 7 and as a family, we had prayed about having a fourth and final baby, I knew Drew could remember how we told him. So, I came up with a fun Easter egg scavenger hunt around the house for Drew and Dilan (we found out about the pregnancy days before Easter). They loved it! Drew read all the clues and he and Dilan found all the eggs when it was each their turn to do so. Of course at the end, Dilan was more concerned about her having all the eggs in her bucket than the "prize" but Drew's reaction was priceless.
Here they are on their scavenger hunt. Drake followed them around too.

And the "prize" was a baby bottle that read, "Mommy is having a baby!" When Drew read it, he got this expression on his face. He was SO excited! Notice the blue bag and the pink bottle... had to play fair.

Dilan understood when we finally said that we'd have four kids in the family and held up the number 4.
And our family picture before going to celebrate by eating breakfast at Chick-fil-a. Drew is still holding the bottle. By the end of this year, our family will be complete as we've always pictured it. :)

The remnants of our scavenger hunt.

For all of you who faithfully read our blog, this is the first public forum we are posting our news. When I hit 12 weeks at the beginning of next week, we'll post on Facebook. :)

Drew's School Birthday

Summer birthdays are celebrated in the month of May at Drew's school. We were able to choose from a few dates and Drew chose May 15 as his birthday is June 15. I was able to bring a treat to school at lunchtime for Drew's class, and Drew chose a cookie cake with a soccer theme. He loves cookie cakes and light blue is his favorite color. So, he wore light blue on this special day, his "school birthday," and celebrated his 7th birthday which is only a month away now. :)

Drew with his incredibly huge cookie cake
Drake was tied down in his stroller so I could cut and serve the cake. He also enjoyed eating an entire piece of cookie cake all by himself. The kids kept giggling as he made a mess of himself.
Another tradition is the birthday kid gets to pick two special friends to go up on stage and lead the whole first grade in singing "happy birthday." Drew had already decided who he was going to pick, and I found it ironic that both friends were wearing an atm and UT shirt. We are definitely in Texas!
Dilan eating the grass icing off the cookie. She didn't actually eat the cookie.
And Drew eating the plain cookie piece as he doesn't like any icing at all. This kid was all smiles today - not only does he get a huge cookie cake today but he'll get another for his actual birthday in June... but he's worth it. :)

Mother's Day 2012

What a fantastic mother's day I had! I really was treated like a queen all weekend with donuts and kolaches on Saturday morning, followed by multiple naps (don't judge), and dinner at Costa Vida which is the copycat of Cafe Rio. Although it takes us 45 minutes to get there, it was worth it. I even had leftovers for lunch on Sunday which also made my mother's day even better. We watched Alvin and Chipmunks' new movie, Chipwrecked, as a family Saturday night too. On Sunday, we woke up for church and the kids couldn't wait to give me their gifts afterwards. Drake was asleep and the kids gave me their own cards they picked out. Then, I got new workout shoes that the kids picked out which I loved and new workout shirts, each child picking out a color for me. Drew also wanted to get me his own gift and he picked out a first aid kit for me. He told me that every mother needs a first aid kit! He is so right and even though we have one in our 72 hour kits, it's always good to have another! I really appreciated David letting the kids pick out my gifts this year - it makes it so much more of a personal touch on Mother's Day. Then, David cooked me a steak, potatoes and asparagus for dinner with cherry pie and vanilla ice cream for dessert. It was delicious and we realized David needs to cook that more often! :)
Getting my cards from each of the kids. David got me a card too and it was so sweet, it made me cry.
Loving what the kids wrote to me

First Grade Hoedown

The first grade held a hoedown where they square-danced to several songs including, "Deep in the Heart of Texas." Drew did a great job and didn't miss a beat. We had so much fun watching him and especially when he fiddled with his hat - you could tell it was making him sweat and was a bit itchy. But all the boys wore the hats and the girls wore red bandannas. My mom was in town for the weekend and stayed for the hoedown Monday night. So much fun!

Dilan's Spring Dance Recital

Dilan had her first spring dance recital where she danced on a stage for the first time. She loved it! She even got to wear make up and she chose purple eye shadow (I did not have blue imagine that), put on blush and lipstick. She would not do the mascara though. But she looked beautiful! She also danced her heart out first to the chicken dance and then her teddy bear dance. David picked up pink roses for Dilan to give her after her performance and also a yellow rose to give to her teacher. It was a night to remember!
