Interview with a 4 yr old

On Sunday, the Primary Presidency gave me a paper entitled, Mystery Person. It has about a dozen questions about Drew that they want to know because he's new and then they spotlight a child each week. (We used to do this when I was in the primary presidency up in utah - good memories!). So, on the way home from church I asked him the questions and this is how it went:
1. What's your favorite holiday? Christmas
2. What's your favorite flavor of ice cream? Chocolate
3. What's your favorite primary song? I am a child of God
4. What's your favorite color? Brown
5. What's your favorite food? Macaroni and cheese
6. Do you have any pets? a dog named Beva
7. What color are your eyes? Brown
8. What color is your hair? Light brown
9. What's your favorite tv show? Thomas
10. How many brothers/sisters do you have? 1 sister
11. Where were you born? a hospital (this is when we tried to teach him again that he was born in Utah after we cracked up at his very reasonable answer)
12. What is your favorite treat? Chocolate (see a trend here?)
13. What is something special about you? my body
Yes, we teach him that his body is special so this cracked me up that it was his answer.

Also, we were in the car yesterday and my radio was not working. Drew suggested that maybe it needed a new battery. Then, he told me he had an idea. He told me that Handy Manny could fix our radio! Then he told me that Daddy could fix it because he has tools. Sorry, David, but apparently you are second in line to Handy Manny when it comes to fixing things.
Having these kind of conversations with this little boy is so much fun - he continues to amaze me what he learns and picks up along the way.

Friends

Last night David sadly said, "I miss our friends..."
Some people have asked how our ward is up here and it's actually been very friendly and I can see lots of families that have kids around our kids' ages. We have gone to a ward activity already, been invited over for dinner twice and even had a family over to our place. We've gotten countless offers to help us move into our house too. As we get to know more people, I am sure we will make new friends but David is sulking due to losing his buddies. It's kind of funny because sometimes guys don't really make long-lasting friendships but David obviously has with the guys back in Peachtree City (amazing what weekly church basketball can do to an Elders Quorum). He even told me what he misses about each of his friends which I'll spare most of you the details on that one. Anyway, we miss all of you back in PTC!

GPS

Okay, so I'm a BIG fan now of a navigation system - specifically the one David just bought himself but put in my car! I am always on google maps finding everything especially moving to a brand new area and writing down directions. I pride myself on getting around here pretty well even though we've only lived here less than a month. But today I had to visit some schools for Drew and it was awesome using this thing. I had written directions to each place from my house but I was able to go from place to place with ease with this thing and not have to have my home as a reference point at all. And Drew is loving it too as he likes to sit in the back holding it and repeating the directions to me that the voice indicates. It's hilarious! I think this thing is going to be very very handy as we explore the great state of Wisconsin up here and travel around. I highly recommend it!

Update

We are back from our two week trip to Houston! We had a great time visiting our family. Pictures to come as soon as I can get our computer and download them there.
We got the house (pictured below) for our year up here. David negotiated everything while I was gone which was great! My next goal this week is to go get Drew registered for pre-K now. We actually move in next Thursday!!! I am so excited to get all of our stuff back and sleep in my own bed again. :)

House?

This is the house we are currently negotiating to get. It should go through. We walked through it again today and it's bigger and even nicer than I remembered. It will fit our family well for the next 11 months. I will be excited once it's all settled and signed but I'll leave that up to David to finalize as I jet off to Houston tomorrow to enjoy my sister's bridal shower and lots of family visits! Thanks for all the well-wishes and prayers for this challenging house situation - we have needed them.
But my song for the summer (I always have one) is Daris Rucker's "Alright" - yes that is Hootie and the Blowfish's lead singer turned country star. Just turn it up loud and sing it proud y'all - it will make you feel so much better!!! there is just something about country music...

No Photos

We don't have pictures right now because this laptop is not reading my photo card from my good camera. So, we will have to post them once we move next month and get our desktop computer back and set up again.
Also, we are hoping to negotiate on a house tonight - so maybe I'll update that soon.
Finally, the kids and I are leaving for Houston for almost two weeks on Wed! :)

Homeless again!

We lost the house today - the people who had wanted to buy it still want to buy it apparently without selling their own home. David doesn't know how anyone can really do that in this economy but apparently it's our luck that they can own two homes at once. So, I didn't hear about the lease today and had an uneasy feeling about it only to get a phone call just a bit ago of this not-so-fun news. I think I am going to scream...or maybe I should just cry in frustration...
