Yesterday, my Dad came into town for the Easter weekend to visit us. We picked him up at the airport in Baltimore and took a diversion to Fort McHenry where the Star Spangled Banner was penned. We've been there before and I love it so much, I had to take my Dad. Plus, they have a new visitors' center I had to check out. We even took a pizza to the picnic area and fed the ducks our crust. This was the kids' favorite part!

Starting to Sit Up
Drake is starting to sit up on his own... at least long enough for me to take pictures! He still falls over sometimes but is really doing a great job of steadying himself. This little boy is too cute!!!

Cherry Blossoms
We were able to visit the Cherry Blossoms while they were in full bloom. It's literally a two-week window where you can see them, and it is recommended to go into the heart of D.C. and walk the Tidal Basin to do it. Because I'll probably never get this opportunity to do this again, we took off on our cherry blossom adventure last Monday morning right before my mom and Sam left. It was a beautiful day and David even took a long lunch to come with us.

Spring Soccer - Game 1
Drew had his first soccer game of the season! It was so much fun. He is on the team with half the kids being from our ward and David is the coach again. However, they don't let kindergarteners play actual games here - yeah, it's weird considering last year he was in pre-k and he played soccer games in Wisconsin. So, Drew has to play up a grade with the first graders. Now, you wouldn't think this too big of a deal except Drew has a June birthday so he is playing with all 7 year olds and he is not even 6 yet. I have worried about it only because I didn't want him to be the smallest out there and feel like he couldn't play up to their level but we also thought it might be really good practice/experience for him too. In the fall, we put him in the soccer classes they have here for 5 year olds and Drew said he missed playing the games so we took the cue from him to go ahead and let him play up a year this spring. Seeing the first game, we definitely made the right decision. He did great, hung in there with everyone, got to the ball several times, and most of all, he loved it.

Cabin John Miniature Train
We have been wanting to go to Cabin John's train for a while now and were excited to see it opened back up this weekend. It's close to the house and a fun little excursion to do with my mom in town and the fact that Drew had a soccer game later that evening. It was a little colder than we expected but everyone bundled up and did well on the train ride. Drew goes into silent modes on train rides. I often wonder what he's thinking but he just takes it all in.
