Santa Picture 2011

We went to the big Bass Pro Shop in Grapevine where they take your picture with Santa Claus for free and even have a free carousel ride too. It really can't be beat. David mentioned that it felt like Disney World for us - so much to see and do! I dressed the boys in their Christmas tree ties and Dilan wore her Christmas dress from Mimi (Thanks, Mimi!!!).

There was only one family in line to wait on and when it was our turn, Drew went and sat on Santa's lap even though he told me he felt "shy." When Dilan saw Santa, she immediately wanted to be picked up, carried, and kept putting her head down closing her eyes. I told her she didn't have to sit with Santa but just stand beside him, take the picture, and she would get a candy cane. But it wasn't working until Santa gave her the actual candy cane and then we got this great smile! It looked like Drake got sleepy right when he sat on Santa Claus' lap and we couldn't get him to smile but eventually he grinned a bit. All in all, the picture captures our precious kids and I was very happy with our experience.

After the picture was taken, Drew started telling Santa Claus all about what he wanted for Christmas including a blue scooter, Thomas trains: Belle, Flynn, Den and Dart, a new Thomas t-shirt, the new Thomas movie...). He was so nervous he would forget to tell him something on his list. But we reassured him that he would be writing a letter to Santa as well. Dilan told Santa (from a distance) that she wanted a Minnie Mouse scooter and Strawberry Shortcake and then she ran off to eat her much-deserved candy cane!
