David did receive an email from Cooper saying they "didn't forget about them and they are tying up loose ends." Not sure what that means exactly but it does mean we are still waiting to hear something...

The Waiting Game
So everyone knows, we are still waiting to hear from Cooper Industries where we will be relocated in the summer... we were supposed to find out sometime in "January" and as you can tell we are at the end of February now. So, no longer do I get that excited feeling each time David calls me but more of a disappointed one in which we have no new information. But alas, the information will hopefully come soon. I am beginning to wonder if David has made this whole' getting a job-thing' up! :)

What???
Lately, Drew has put his fingers in his ears when noises are too loud. Like when the vacuum is on, the hair dryer is on and even when he doesn't want to hear David and I talk or sing out loud. He found this solution the other day... ear plugs and tried to put them in his ears!

TAGGED!
I've been tagged by my good friend, Hilarie! I am now supposed to post a blog regarding 7 fun facts that you might not have known about me. Here it goes:
1. I have an identical twin sister - which all of you probably know but it has always been something that has made me unique. Some interesting memories associated with being a twin was the first party that Keely was invited to and I wasn't. For many years we had the same or similar friends until junior high and then it came, the invitation that came with her name on it and mine was left off. That was only the beginning of things that she and I both would experience in regards to one of us "getting" or achieving things and the other one not. But all in all, it has made us who we are!
2. What would I be doing if I had all the time in the world? Family history. Many of you may not know that I love finding out who my ancestors are and getting to know who I am because of them. The only problem is I pick it up for months at a time, then don't do anything with it for a long time, then go back to it... you get the picture. I am currently focused on picking it back up again when I stop working in June.
3. Secretly I love to do administration work... yes, paying bills, organizing, etc. I think I would make a great administrative assistant if I didn't have to have a boss! I really didn't like being ordered around as a receptionist/admin so that was not the job for me which is the job I did between undergrad and grad school.
4. David and I have never owned or had a Christmas tree in the seven years we have been married. We have always traveled for Christmas and thought, what's the point? Hopefully, we will get one of our own for Drew this year.
5. I love to read historical fiction and books about women friendships - nothing else I really get into. I also would love to write a book one day but I figure my journal is a book about my personal history so maybe one day one of my posterity can publish it for themselves.
6. I played competitive flag football my freshman year at UT. I learned from guys down the hall about how to run routes and how to catch the ball in any circumstance. We had multiple practices a week and I probably spent way too much time doing all of that but it was so much fun. My absolute favorite time of the year is the fall because of the college football season (GO HORNS!) and the holidays...
7. Some things I would love to do one day include taking a photography class, learn sign language and write a song...
I now tag Mary, April, Wendy, Stephanie, Jennifer, and Annie... :)

Fun times!
This is Drew and his Popo (Sam, my mom's husband) a few weeks ago when we were visiting in Lake Jackson. Drew just had to wear a "lammy" slipper with Popo, carry Mickey Mouse around and wear Popo's yellow hat, otherwise known as his actual master's (golf) hat. It was too cute not to get on camera so here is the photo. You can barely see Drew's eyes peering from the hat, but he was so happy and having so much fun!

Our Valentine's Night Out!
Where we ate!
David and I trying to take a picture together- David kept making faces and we kept having to take the picture over... ugh!
At home after dinner we had the Pistorius traditional Baskin Robbins ice cream cake and Drew helped Mimi blow out the candles!

My friend, Kate, gave me these cool heart-shaped sunglasses at the Valentine's party.
This is Drew checking out his own cards he was giving to his friends. He was distributing Mickey Mouse Valentine's Day cards.
Drew would not take a picture with me at the party. So, we finally got one of us cracking up because his friend, Kate, was trying to get in the picture too...
...and when Kate wanted to play baby with her mom, Drew followed suit and wanted to be held like a baby. I didn't mind at all! :)

Happy Valentine's Day!
Happy Valentine's Day everyone. Drew is going to a fun Valentine's party at the church this morning with our playgroup. He picked out Mickey Mouse cards to exchange, and we have an old Thomas the Tank Engine shoe box as his "mailbox." I am also bringing blueberry muffins for all the moms to enjoy so it should be fun! :)
David did wake me up this morning with my Valentine's gift... 4 Ann Coulter books! And funny thing was that I got him two books by his favorite author. We've both been doing a lot of reading lately, but it's funny we got each other similar presents. Of course he says he got me 4 books whereas I only got him 2 so it's obvious he loves me more. Oh, the simplicity and logic of the male mind sometimes... :)

Hmmm....
Have you ever driven by a place that seriously just made you stop in your tracks? This place did for me - I was cracking up as I read the name of the joint (yes, my mind might be in the gutter at times) and the next time I drove by it, I took this picture. So, how did the owner come up with this name? I guess they have something in their drinks that are called, "chewy balls," that give it the name... and the only way I'll know is to go try it out. The funniest part to me was that this place is located directly across the street from my high school... oh how things change in a matter of a decade or so.

Who knew?
We went to a new park last Saturday with some friends and all of a sudden Drew starts climbing this rock wall! He actually got up it all by himself (with David underneath just to make sure) but I was quite impressed with his agility and motor skills as always.... It reminds me of when Drew was a little over 1 year old and we went to hang out with David's high school buddies (Kurt and TJ) and their families. They both had boys born just after Drew, and Drew proceeded to run around TJ's house in circles while the other boys were sitting nicely and playing. Kurt, said, "Well, this seems about right with little Pistorius running and running just like his Dad used to do." I was cracking up because Drew runs just like his dad and people have started to notice. No pressure on Drew though - I really am okay if he doesn't play football. Being a mother of a boy brings many worries in that category!
Drew making it to the top!!!

The cutest thing lately is Drew singing. It took him a while to find his words and so his singing is just precious to us. He can sing his "ABCs" now and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and he loves to sing along to the radio with me in the car. This is one of his favorites, "No One," by Alicia Keys. This video was taken the day of the Super Bowl when Alicia Keys sang it live in the pre-game show, and Drew was shoving a cookie in his mouth. David was sick that day coming down with strep throat we later discovered, and he is positioned on the couch behind Drew. All in all, we are grateful our son is developing an appreciation for music! :)

Say it ain't so!
Mitt Romney dropped out of the race as everyone knows but I am totally bummed about it. Now, I normally would stay away from politics on our family blog but as much as I have followed this election (so much so that David pleads with me to watch something else constantly) I feel like I can share. My dad says I am in mourning... and yes, I kind of am. I was interested in Romney because of our shared faith (even though David thinks that all politicians are crooks) so I watched him carefully in debates, speeches, etc. He was the candidate I most aligned with especially on the war and illegal immigration which are my two biggest issues of concern during this election. So, who do I vote for now? Well, I guess I'll talk more about that when I actually have a chance to vote! I mean seriously - because I live in Texas, I haven't even voted yet and it's already over (on the Republican side anyway)? Ridiculous... Not sure about our primary voting system when I feel like I didn't get my chance to say. And yes, I am big into our right to vote considering I have voted in every election since I was 18 (I feel like if I don't vote it is an outright snub to the women who fought for my right to do so in 1920). I even brought Drew with me into the voting booth last year to vote for governor of Texas! Anyway, it isn't so bad considering I have gotten more into politics than ever, and I actually know what I think on these issues and not to mention, I have a new-found fixation on Ann Coulter :)

Obsession
After Christmas, my obsession became actually putting together a complete wooden train track for Drew that included all of his pieces (bridges, waterfall, signal house, barge, shed, etc.). It was much more complicated than one might expect especially because we didn't have enough track. So, I spent about 3 trips back and forth to the toy store buying more pieces of track to fit everything Drew had. About $80 later, several sketches and many consultations of David on the project, here is the final product. And yes, I did draw a map of each piece and where it goes so I can recreate it at any time our precious little boy destroys it! :)

Retirement living anyone?
We went to visit a retirement home with Grandma and Stuart (David's dad's mom and her husband) and eat dinner there. Yes, dinner was at like 4:30 p.m. but hey, it was free, right? Touring the retirement community truly reminded me of touring my college dormitory. You have an apartment all to yourself but then you have lots of neighbors (male and female, some couples, some singles) along with a library, game room, barber shop, etc. It is like going to college, living in a dorm, and NOT having to go to class or study! I mean this concept is quite phenomenal. I am totally game for it when I get of retirement age. Of course, David says that will be when we reach 50 or so and we wouldn't be eligible. :) Anyway, the food was pretty good - bland for obvious reasons but you seriously could get anything you want. We definitely recommend retirement living to those older than 80 or so. This is a picture of Drew riding on Stuart's lap up as we were leaving the place with David and his grandmother. Of course, the people could not stop staring at Drew and they really loved having a little boy running around in their midst. We told Grandma and Stuart we would be glad to visit them here.

Big boy Drew
Drew slept in a "big boy" bed Friday and Saturday night while we were visiting my mom and Sam in Lake Jackson this past weekend. He really has outgrown the pack and play and always wakes up in the middle of the night there and has to climb in bed with us. He does still sleep in his crib at home - we are so fortunate! But David put Drew to bed in the trundle bed and waited until he fell asleep. He slept through the night and David and I were able to sleep all night long in the big king-size bed with no interruptions!!! It really is the little things that you come to appreciate as a parent.
