Siblings

These kiddos are what makes life so special and fun for me. I am so glad I have them and even more, I'm glad they have each other.

This day we are just hanging around in our pajamas on Winter break:
Dilan is loving having Drew home this week. She wakes up every day asking, "where's Drew?"
Brothers - Drew is playing with Drake and he starts smiling at him
I am fortunate to have a brother and a sister but my brother never had a brother. I have to say from witnessing my husband and his brother, Mike's relationship, I've learned how special brothers are to one another. I also had my own special relationship with Mike and very much felt like he was the closest person to a younger sibling I would ever have. One of the things I looked forward to the most (and yes it may sound trite to anyone else) was the fact that Mike's children and our children were going to have the same last name. I just thought that was so neat and often Mike and I would talk about that (obviously my dad did not have any brothers as well). Unfortunately, Mike passed away over 7 years ago now, but I am grateful I was able to witness the special bond between he and David. I think it will make me a better mother of these two boys and helps me realize how special their relationship is and will be in the future. I hope they love each other the same way David and Mike did, and I hope Drew takes as much care of Drake as David wanted to do for Mike.

Drake - 2 months old

Drake is 2 months old now! He is growing and doing very well. He now weighs 12lbs 11.5 oz and is in the 75th %tile for weight, 90th %tile for height, and 76th %tile for his head size. This little boy is smiling and cooing and just such a delight. His sleep is getting somewhat better but he still likes to be held a lot! :)

B&O Railroad

We traveled to Baltimore to visit the historic B&O Railroad and ride the Santa Express train. With three kids in tow and my mom and her husband to help out, we actually did ok on our excursion! The kids loved the train ride and the adults loved seeing the old roundhouse and real trains. Drew could not get enough of the model train display which was huge and very extensive. All in all, it was our one big event out of the house while my mom and Sam were here and it was worth it!

Santa at B&O Railroad

I have been waiting to get a good Santa Claus picture this year. The Santa Claus at our ward Christmas party freaked Dilan out but taught us a valuable lesson - lead with the candy cane!!! She started whimpering when she saw this Santa but immediately liked him when the candy cane was offered. Even better, we got a picture with all three kids (and me) as well! More pictures to come on our adventure to the B&O Railroad today. :)

Our Christmas Visitors

My mom and her husband, Sam, have come to visit us for the Christmas holidays. This is the first year we weren't able to go home to Houston for Christmas - first Christmas I am missing with my family in 34 years. But we were so fortunate to have them come and make it a very special holiday.

First Snow of the Season

Today was the first real snow fall of the winter season here. The kids were excited and wanted to play in it after Drew got home from school. We bundled them up and Dilan mostly watched Drew try to make snowballs, a snow angel, and "tracks" in the snow. David shoveled the driveway but the snow was pretty light and so it made it quite easy. This winter is already much different from our winter in Wisconsin last year but hopefully, I am not speaking too soon! :)

Drake stayed inside and missed out on the snow activities - I'm sure he was real bummed out about it.
